What are Lash Extensions?

If you’re anything like me, you’re obsessed with your eyelashes. I am a self-confessed eyelash addict. Anything that makes them longer, fuller, darker, or more luxurious absolutely has my attention. While mascaras and fake eyelashes are great every-day alternatives, eyelash extensions are the newest and hottest trend when it comes having a celeb-quality look on the regular.

Lash extensions are a semi-permanent solution that gives you amazing lashes all of the time. If you have ever wished that you had been blessed with naturally thick, dark eyelashes, this is a great solution.

Let’s jump right in. If you’ve never heard of eyelash extensions or aren’t sure what they entail, this is a great place to start. Basically, eyelash extensions are fake eyelashes that are carefully glued to your natural lashes using a special adhesive. Instead of being affixed to your eyelid (like fake eyelashes you buy at the beauty store) these are bonded to your own individual lashes.

The process is painstakingly slow. After all, think of how small a tiny individual eyelash is. The results, however, look far more natural than any alternative.

Plus, they last longer. Ordinary false eyelashes are done after at least a day. Lash extensions only fall out when you shed your real lashes. In case you didn’t know, our bodies are constantly shedding eyelashes.

Usually, we just don’t notice, unless they happen to get in our eyes and cause extreme discomfort. The lifespan of an average eyelash is about 2-3 weeks. That also means you need to get your lash extensions re-applied regularly to maintain their original appearance.

"Whats good to know before starting my new Lash Life?"

When it comes to anything that has to do with customizing a service for our clients there's a lot to put into consideration. The most important thing you need to worry about is what Length and Style you prefer. This part is VERY IMPORTANT. As a Lash Technician I can provide multiple options for my clients.

Each lash service is a 1.5-2 hour process. Why? Lash Extensions services are a very tedious process. During the service your eyes are closed for the entire process. The Lash technician individually isolates each individual lash and adds either a single lash extension or what we call "fans" to each eyelash.

We make sure to do this process carefully and correctly! If a Lash Extension is added to more than one lash at a time both natural lashes will be forced out of the eyelid from the extensions causing lash damage. This is why we make sure to take our time during the lash service to prevent any irritation and/or damage.

"What are my style options?"

Classy Classics

Classic Extensions

A method where 1 lash extension is glued to 1 natural lash. This method is also known as 1 to 1 or 1:1. Classic lashes are perfect for clients who already have a lot of lashes, but want to add more length. Classic lashes look more natural.

Hottie Hybrid

Hybrid Extensions

Hybrids are a mixture of Classic && Volume Extensions. Where classics are 1:1 hybrids can be a mixture throughout the eye of 1:1 and 1:2-10 depending how well your lashes can handle the "fans". (You can still see some spacing)

Volume/Mega Volume Lash Extensions

Volume/Mega Volume Extensions are the fullest, hottest, boldest you can go when it comes to lashing. This style has fans only! 1:3-10 on each lash.

shape is chosen by the client unless the lash tech's opinion is preferred.

"whatever you think is best"

Cat Eye is a shape where the "mm" length of lashes start from short-to-long

Doll eye shape is a rounded style. short-long-short.

"How do I take care of my lashes"

First 24-48 hours after your new set of lashes are the most important part to put into consideration. Even when you leave the spa your lashes are dry but the adhesive has not bonded. The first 1-2 days you cannot get your lashes wet. If you do the water will cause the glue to soften and your lashes will not adhere.

  • Do not use a spa, sauna or pool for the first 24 hours. The extensions need that amount of time to properly bond.

  • Avoid pulling or rubbing your eyes.

  • Do not use eyelash curlers with your extensions. With proper application you will not need them.

  • ONLY use oil-free makeup remover. We carry several brands in our studio and also provide clients with a do-it-yourself eyelash wash.

  • If your eyelashes are tangled or crossed over, use the Spoolie given to you during your appointment to gently brush them straight and put them in place.

  • Proper hygiene is very important. Please keep lashes clean by regular washing. We have a special foaming lash bath eyelash cleanser available online or in our salon.

  • If mascara is absolutely needed in between fills, use LASH-EXTENSION SAFE mascara.

  • After showering avoid rubbing lashes, it best to blot them with a towel and let them air dry .You can also dry the lashes by using a hair dryer on the cool setting and blowing them dry from the bottom up. It makes them curlier and fluffy.

  • Use care when applying facial and eye creams to avoid the lash line. Too many oil-based products can break down the adhesive.

  • If the lashes aren't clean, the extensions WILL NOT properly adhere to your lashes && you will be disappointed a week later when half your lashes have fallen out.The more makeup/product you put on your eyes; the harder it is for the lash technician to do your lashes next appointment.

Last Important Info:

Lash Extensions are not made for everyone, they are an entire lifestyle!

They are fun, beautiful, and life changing! They come with a lot of responsibility and need to be taken care of properly.

For some people even when taking the best care of their lashes they still could not last. DONT FORGET; we are all beautiful and different in our own way and that comes with things working out great for some and not as much for others.
